Art in public space: Bus stops
For more than a quarter of a century, Hanover has been taking waiting to a whole new level:
Since 10 April 1994, the "bus stops" have adorned the city with a unique collection of bus stops designed by renowned designers such as Gehry, Sottsass and Morrison as part of an art project. Thus, what were actually everyday bus shelters were transformed into true works of art.
art in public space is the trademark of the art-filled city of Hanover. Over the years, more than 200 sculptures, sculptures and installations have been placed in the city. The famous Nanas, the Sculpture Mile and the extraordinary Bus Stops are among the icons of this collection.
The idea behind the bus stops is to make the waiting time for passengers a pleasant rest in a special place.
