"The Lego Landscape" by Alessandro Mendini
Despite the heavy traffic at the Steintor bus stop, architect Alessandro Mendini chose a striking design for the stop: a massive, 20-metre-long bus stop with golden cone towers at the corners and a checkerboard-like covering in black and yellow - the Lego landscape.
Originally, 27 different designs were sketched, which were eventually reduced to four before the selected design was implemented.
Due to a reconstruction of the tram lines 10 and 17, the bus stop Steintor was moved slightly in October 2018 and rebuilt on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße.
The designer Mendini was part of the "Studio alchimia", which rebelled against conventional taste with its ironic designs in 1978. He also designed the Mendini building in the media centre of the publishing company Madsack, which also features golden towers.
The bus stop Steintor is served by bus lines 128 and 134, the trains run through the middle.
